In this post we continue our detailed look in to how to get a band signed. I know it can seem like the most difficult thing in the world at times, but if you just meet the right person you will find yourself with a deal in no time.

Here are a few tips that will put you above the crowd:
- When you send in your CD do something to make sure it stands out.
- Build a buzz for your act, A&R people don’t sign things that no-one else likes.
- Follow up every week with the labels until you get a flat yes or no.
- Organize a showcase and call your new contracts a week before the show asking them to attend.
You can pick up some more tips in the email course below.
- Amie Street: Awesome New Music Model – Today I came across a new startup called Amie Street that may have found the right way to help people discover and market price music from new or little known bands. The founders, Elliott Breece, Elias Roman and Joshua Boltuch, are three Providence, RI college students (pictured left to right in photo below). This is a very alpha site and there are a few bugs (I can only get the flash player to work on Firefox on a PC, no luck with IE or Firefox on Mac), and the interface could use some help with flow.
- New Music Service Slacker Has (very) Broad Ambitions – The basic music service is very similar to Pandora (see screen shot at bottom of post). It’s a web based music player that customizes stations based on whether you like or dislike specific tracks. Like Pandora, you can’t play specific tracks on request, but you can certainly listen to a certain genre of music.
