Music Marketing Challenge Day 9 – Setting Up Your Fan-Catcher

This post is part of Music Marketing Challenge

Today we are going to be harvesting the fruits of your video creation effort yesterday and building efficient “Fan-Catcher” pages. They are powerful in helping turn casual website visitors into email subscribers and fans who you can connect with for years to come.

We will also be looking at setting up your blog and how you can add a couple of other opportunities to collect contact details on your posts.

These are the final steps before we start getting hits back to your site…how exciting!

    Hi there Chris,
Thanks for the cool tips you’re giving out.
My question is why you would do the welcome video on the homepage? Isn’t the homepage supposed to be a more informative/interactive to get people to come back?
Just curious appreciate any clarification on this

Hey Micael, thanks for your message it’s good to have you on board with the challenge.

I think the most important thing when fans visit your site, is to try and get them on your list so that you have a way to follow up and interact with them over time.

Once you have them on the list you can send them links to all the cool content we are going to be creating on your blog rather than always just posting links to the homepage.

The good thing about doing a welcome video is that it’s still informative and interactive like you mentioned and makes people feel like they know you instantly…but has the added benefit of building your most important asset which is a list of engaged fans.

Also if they really don’t want to sign up there is a link to click through to your blog and if we were not going through the challenge just doing the most important steps, I would put twitter and facebook updates on the homepage as well.
