Music Marketing Job

I have a friend who works for EMI records and he once told me that all of the kids who come in looking for a music marketing jobs are usually stuck up and very posh. His reason for this was that spoilt rich kids living off mommy and daddy were the only people who could afford to do long internships with no pay… to me that kind of makes sense!

But for some musicians the idea of a job in music marketing seems like a one way to ticket to fame, because if you know the marketing ropes you should be guaranteed to have success in the biz right?

Nope!

Don’t be fooled, I once took some work experience in a music marketing firm and it was a knightmare…

…no pay, no respect and no fun

My advice is to stay away, if you’re music is good enough the right PR people will find you.
