This is a really thoughtful post from Jim. As well as a lot of other great info he gives away an amazing tip about how you can make giving out fliers more effective.
Basically you would put a tracking URL on each set of fliers to see how effective each one was.
If you were giving out fliers at other musicians shows you might use this tactic to work out which fans are most likely to be into your stuff as well.
This is very powerful because you could then use that information to target music fans more effectively with Facebook ads or something like that.
Jim, “Test this method with an exclusive landing page printed on the fliers. Segment the data by city with your online analytics tool if you are on tour. This will show if fans were incentivized enough to check out your site. Warning: the data might be minimal.”
