Trying to convince people to buy your music sucks!
You feel weird about all the self promotion, and your fans feel weird because they hate being sold to.
So what’s the solution?
You Need To Make Them An offer They Can’t Refuse
This does not mean putting a horse’s head in their bed or anything, just think carefully about your music offering so that when you send an email to tell them about it their like…
“Shit that’s great, this is a no-brainer…I’m in!”
So let’s build the best music offer of all time:
How about…
- Every album you’ve ever recorded.
- All the music that you will ever record in the future.
- Videos of your live shows.
- A new T-shirt every 6 months.
- Free access to every gig you ever play.
- A personalized song for their birthday
All for $99 per year?
That little list just popped out of my head in a few seconds, but I’m sure you can get creative with this and make it even more cool.
If you follow this process and can reach and maintain 1000 true fans your income will be $99,000 per year, and you can then spend all your time just creating great stuff for them.
Most of the content will not cost you anything to deliver if you make it available in a private fan club area on your site. Just keep adding on value until you achieve “total no-brainier status”.
In case I have goofed and this is still a little bit unclear, I want to give you three things to think about when you’re creating your offer.
1. Make Sure Your Fans Can Easily Afford It
$99 a year is super cheap for all the value you’re offering, but some people might not have the cash lying around. Which is why you should also offer a monthly payment plan for those that need it. You can easily set this up in Paypal which is cool because people trust Paypal.
Consider this when creating your offer…
- How can you make sure that ALL you potential fans can afford it?
- Offer a payment plan for people who don’t like the lump sum.
- Make the payment process so easy that even a total Internet newbie could join.
Then…
2. Give 10x The Value
You want to make your offer so full of great stuff that the price seems like a mistake. Think big and think long term, be amazingly generous and your fans will love you for it.
- Brainstorm the kind of crazy offer that will get an instant YES!
- Always ask yourself how you can give even more to the fans.
- Things like tickets, DVDs and t-shirts have a real undeniable value so if you have to spend some of your $99,999 making your fans even happier then do it. If the numbers work give even more!
Then…
3. Create A Buzz
The number one thing that gets people to say YES to an offer is when they hear their friends and family talking positively about it. Your music has to have the “buzz factor”.
- Make sure that you are always producing top quality work that people want to spread.
- Give a fan club discount for people who introduce friends and family.
- Ask your fans for comments and suggestions using this new Facebook feature, then use this information to improve your offer even further.
Simple!
Just to recap
To make sure you have a no-brainer offer do this:
- Pitch your club in the perfect price range to suit your specific fans.
- Offer different ways to pay for different people.
- Give away the farm and everything on the farm!
- Get feedback from members, and use that information to improve your offer.
This process simply comes down to giving your fans a massive reason to support your music, then putting all your energy into making them happy.
It’s a great way to bring more focused action to your music career and it’s also a lot of fun.
Let me know if you have any questions.
